How to Make Homemade Vanilla Cupcake

Who doesn’t love cupcakes? This tiny dessert can simply made your day brighter in a second. And that is why in this time I am going to share recipe on how to make homemade vanilla cupcake with the simplest ingredients! Let’s get started.

Ingredients you will need:

For the Cupcake

1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

¼ tsp baking soda

1 ½ tsp baking powder

¼ tsp kosher salt

¾ cup unsalted butter (melted)

3 egg whites (room temperature)

1 tbsp vanilla extract

½ sour cream (room temperature)

½ cup whole milk

For the Vanilla Buttercream

2 lb confectioners sugar

unsalted butter (1lb)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp heavy cream

A pinch kosher salt

1 tsp whole milk

How to make Vanilla Cupcake:

For the Cupcake

1. Sift all of the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Sifting is important because it helps you mix things up together more easily and prevents any clumps from getting in. Then whisk it all together.

2. Before moving on to the wet ingredients, separate the egg whites and the yolks. We’re gonna need the whites only. Then pour in the egg whites (room temperature), sour cream, milk (warm), vanilla extract and give it a whisk. Then add the unsalted butter (room temperature).

3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and just mix it in.

4. Add cupcake papers into the tin. Using an ice cream scoop to add in all of the cupcake batter, will helps you to get an even amount of batter into each cupcake.

5. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until the centers are set.

For the Vanilla Buttercream

1. Pour the unsalted butter at room temperature into the whisking bowl and whip it up. Mix on low for 5 minutes or just until it’s really creamy and soft.

2. Sift in the sugar into 2 batches to the butter. Cover with tea towel and mix on low for just couple minutes until the butter is incorporated with the sugar. Then add a bit of vanilla for flavoring and give it a mix again. Continue with the second batch of the sugar followed with the cream also the salt to balance it. Don’t forget to add milk for make a better consistency.

4. Snip the tip off of your piping bag, then add all your butter cream in it.

5. Put the buttercream on the top of your cupcake.
